The Padma Shri for this year has been awarded to a total of 118 eminent personalities across fields of art, literature and education, medicine, trade and industry, sports, public affairs, social work and science and engineering.
Talking being honoured with Padma Shri, Kangana Ranaut said, “I’m humbled and I’m honoured. I thank my country for this recognition and I dedicate this to every woman who dares to dream. To every daughter… to every mother… and to the dreams of women who will shape the future of our country.”
An overwhelmed Karan Johar took to his social media handle to share a note of thanks that read, “It’s not very often that I’m at a loss for words, but this is one such occasion… The Padma Shri. Such an honour to receive one of the highest civilian awards in the country.”

Considering himself blessed to be bestowed with the award, he added, “Overwhelmed by so many emotions right now. Humbled, elated and also thankful for the opportunity to live my dream every day, to create and to entertain. I know my father would be proud and I wish he was here to share this moment with me.”

Eminent personalities, including former Union ministers Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj and George Fernandes, Olympian boxer Mary Kom, former Mauritius prime minister Anerood Jugnauth have been honoured with the Padma Vibhushan on the Republic Day this year, officials said on Saturday.
This year the President has approved conferment of 141 Padma Awards including 4 duo cases (in a duo case, the award is counted as one). The list comprises 7 Padma Vibhushan, 16 Padma Bhushan and 118 Padma Shri Awards.
34 of the awardees are women and the list also includes 18 persons from the category of Foreigners/NRI/PIO/OCI and 12 posthumous awardees.
Prime Minister Narendra congratulated the Padma awardees, saying they include extraordinary people.
“Congratulations to all those who have been conferred the Padma Awards,” he tweeted.
The prime minister said the awardees include “extraordinary individuals who have made exceptional contributions to our society, nation and humanity”.
