SURAT: Migrant labourers pelted stones at police in Gujarat‘s Surat district on Monday, following which the safety personnel lobbed teargas shells and baton-charged the agitated workers, an official stated.
The incident came about close to Vareli village on the outskirts of Surat whereas the migrant workers have been demanding that preparations be made to ship them again to their native locations in the wake of the coronavirus-enforced lockdown, he stated.

The labourers additionally broken some automobiles parked on Surat-Kadodara highway, the official stated.
They clashed with police and threw stones at them, following which the safety personnel retaliated and lobbed teargas shells and lathi-charged the agitated workers, the official stated.

The scenario was later introduced underneath management and safety was stepped up in the world, he added.
