International Day of Human Space Flight is observed on 12 April. The day commemorates the anniversary of Yuri Gagarin’s historic spaceflight in 1961.

The day is celebrated because the Cosmonautics Day in Russia. The day goals to make sure the nations notice the aspiration to take care of outer area for peaceable functions.

Human Space Flight:

  • A Soviet citizen Yuri Gagarin carried out Vostok 1 area flight on 12 April 1961. The flight made one orbit across the Earth over 108 minutes within the Vostok 3KA spacecraft.

  • The spacecraft was launched by the Vostok-Okay launch car. This historic achievement paved the best way for area exploration for the profit of all humanity.


  • In its 65th session, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) handed a decision in April 2011 and designated the commentary of International Day of Human Space Flight on 12 April.
