It is learnt that the federal government is engaged on a mega plan to deploy naval ships in addition to navy and industrial plane to evacuate Indians stranded within the Gulf and different areas after the lockdown ends.

Srivastava mentioned India has offered 2.eight million Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) tablets as grant help to 25 international locations. “We have also provided paracetamol, about 1.9 million tablets as well as in another form to 31 countries. In addition, consignments of HCQ and of paracetamol are being sent to 87 countries on a commercial basis,” the MEA spokesperson mentioned.

He added that secretaries within the Ministry have held conferences via video-conference with teams of Resident Ambassadors of foreign missions in Delhi and briefed them concerning the COVID-19 scenario within the nation and measures being taken to fight it. “Through the Resident Ambassadors, we thanked the foreign governments for taking care of Indians citizens, including students, stranded in their countries,” Srivastava mentioned.

The MEA Covid-19 Control Room has remained “very active”, he mentioned. “It has obtained greater than 10,000 calls and 30,000 e-mails until date. We have responded promptly to requests for deployment of Rapid Response Teams (RRTs) comprising docs, nurses and paramedics to take care of the COVID-19 pandemic. These RRTs have thus far been deployed in Maldives and Kuwait on the request of their governments. These RRTs have helped to coach and trade greatest practices with native medical professionals on numerous points of coping with the pandemic. They have offered coaching on testing, important care nursing, oxygen remedy isolation techniques, an infection prevention,” he added.
