Cab aggregators startup, VAOO, fires four employees amid lockdown

MUMBAI: VAOO, a cab-aggregator agency backed by former cricketer Kapil Dev, has laid off four of its employees amid the lockdown for coronavirus, citing monetary difficulties.
The Union and numerous state governments have requested firms to not sack employees or minimize their salaries through the 21-day nationwide lockdown.

The startup, which had reportedly raised $15 million from buyers together with Dev final 12 months, gives free rides to customers for watching focused adverts. It had claimed that some 15,000 cabs have been registered with it.

However, six days in the past it sacked four employees from Mumbai workplace which has a workers of 45. Harshad Tiwari and three others obtained the pink slip per week in the past.

“We are downsizing the company due to economic reasons and thus forced to lay-off your employment,” the e-mail learn. When contacted, the corporate’s Human Resources head Monica Kumar confirmed the event.

“We are facing some financial difficulties, because of which payment of salaries of several employees is pending since February,” she mentioned. Employees have been being requested to go away as monetary situation was unhealthy, she added.

Tiwari, one of many sacked employees, mentioned, “I was associated with VAOO as a field executive for the last nine months. I am still waiting for two months’ salary.” He had approached Maharashtra Chief Minister’s Office by way of Twitter, bringing to consideration his plight, he mentioned.
