Older and wiser now, I flip away from buffets. For one, quite a lot of locations heat up leftovers to make the buffet desk appear larger and higher. Two, when there may be a lot on supply, you don’t know what to eat, and what to not eat. And, three, you try to style as a lot as you possibly can — and find yourself not having fun with any of the dishes. So, when family and friends maintain forth on some value-for-money buffet with a lavish unfold, I merely sniff.
But now that buffets are a factor of the previous – heck, eating places have gotten outdated recollections — I’m truly considering of overladen tables slightly nostalgically. And that’s the reason I ordered from an eatery that’s identified for its limitless buffets. Barbeque Nation — in many components of Delhi and in different cities — was once fairly a well-liked place, and I had heard paeans sung about their prawns. I believed it was time to order a meal from its supply outlet referred to as UBQ by Barbeque Nation.
One of Barbeque Nation’s USPs was the inexpensive charges at which it provided a buffet that included every thing from fried shrimps, numerous sorts of kababs and tandoori greens to biryanis, curries and desserts. The UBQ charges are very cheap, too. We requested for a U&BBQ seafood platter (₹399), U&BBQ non-veg buddy platter (₹379) and a Deluxe non-veg thaali (₹299).
The seafood platter consisted of 4 items of tawa fish, six crispy fried prawns, 4 Amritsari fried fish, fried rice with 4 prawns, fish in an Oriental sauce and 4 tiny gulab jamuns. The Buddy platter comprised six sizzling chilli garlic prawns, two crispy fried tangri, six items of chilli rooster, 4 fried fish, 4 non-veg kababs and the 4 small GJs. We wished one thing with some gravy, too, so had requested for the thali that included 4 items of butter rooster, 4 fried rooster items, crispy corn, dal makhni, rooster tikka biryani and the GJs. Not sufficient grain, we thought, so we requested for 2 parathas (₹50 every).
It goes with out saying that barbecued, grilled or fried meals needs to be eaten proper off the grill, however I wasn’t sad with my dinner. We heated up the meals, which took away a number of the crispiness, however I totally loved the shrimps — nonetheless crunchy and juicy — and the butter rooster. The rooster gravy was thick, and sweet-tart. I attempted out a little bit of the prawn fried rice with the Oriental fish, and fairly appreciated it, too.
What I actually loved was the dal makhni, which was deliciously creamy, and did a pleasant waltz with the paratha. Tangri is just not my favorite, so I didn’t go there. I had the fish, however didn’t suppose a lot of it. It was bland, and the batter did nothing to reinforce its style. The dessert of 4 tiny gulab jamuns (referred to as angoori gulab jamun — for its measurement, I suppose) was a pleasant option to finish the meal.
When life returns to regular, and we enterprise out once more, I could go to the closest Barbecue Nation outlet. I believe I must see what’s on the desk.
